Christian Kropf, an immigrant from Switzerland, started the farm in the early 1900s. The farm is currently run by second, third and fourth generation family members. In 2012, a freeze killed 85 percent of the state‚Äôs apples, but Core Farms managed to survive the crisis. They currently grow approximately 200 acres of  Kropf apples. Their most popular apple varieties are Red Delicious and Golden Delicious. In the past few years Roger Kropf and his daughter Barb decided to renovate the barn and turn it into a market. Red Barn market hosts several events and sells ice cream, sandwiches, snacks, baked goods, fresh produce, jams, syrups and honey.
